Marital Property Distribution

New Jersey Attorneys ▪ Equitable Distribution of Property

Divorce involves making a plan to separate the property acquired during your marriage. In New Jersey, this process is called equitable distribution. At Goldstein & Bachman, P.A. our lawyers will help you understand and work through the process of dividing your property.

Working in Middlesex County, Monmouth County, and the surrounding New Jersey area for nearly 20 years, we will help determine what is fair and appropriate in your situation. Equitable distribution of property does not necessarily mean an equal split of property. Property distribution depends on a variety of factors that may require an experienced attorney to fully understand.

Are you trying to reach a fair property division?

Divorce can be a stressful experience. Most parties do eventually reach some sort of settlement agreement before having to go to trial. New Jersey encourages parties to work out an amicable division of property before resorting to time-consuming and expensive trial. Three of our attorneys are Early Settlement Panelists, and are familiar with New Jersey divorce.

Aside from alimony we can handle

  • Equitable distribution
  • Complex business valuations
  • Investigation of assets
  • Evaluation of assets

What property can be divided in a divorce?

In New Jersey, property acquired during marriage is titled either marital or non-marital property. Dividing this property is an extremely fact sensitive process and requires the skill of an experienced attorney. If a court determines that the property is marital, it may equitably divide the property between the spouses.

If you have a large amount of property and money to deal with, it is particularly important to ensure that you evaluate your property carefully. We are familiar with dividing up complex marital property holdings.

Contact us today, for a free initial consultation about your property. Experience matters when it comes to your money.
